On September 11, 2010 a rally organized by the Freedom Defense Initiative (FDI) and Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) was held in remembrance of the 9/11 attack and to voice an opposition of the selected location for the Park51 (formerly known as Cordoba House) Islamic Cultural Center and Mosque.
Several thousand New Yorkers and their supporters had gathered to participate in the event. Amongst attendees were 9/11 family members, human rights leaders and advocates, veterans, New York City firefighters and first responders to the attack.
The rally speakers included Dutch Parliamentarian Geert Wilders, North Carolina Congressional candidate Ilario Pantano, New York Congressional candidate York Kleinhandler, radio host Mike Gallagher as well as video messages from former U. S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton and journalist Andrew Breitbart amongst others. Hosting the rally were Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer.
