It can be called the first of its kind. "Fear, Inc.The Roots of the Islamophobia Network in America," maybe the first organized attempt to examine the root cause of discrimination towards Muslim-Americans. The report suggests a handful of organizations and individuals are pumping tens of millions of dollars into exploiting fear, hysteria and ignorance about Islam, and divide Americans based on religious and ethnic lines.
This has happened before to Jews, Catholics, Japanese-Americans and Gays and Lesbians. So what, if anything, is different as it relates to Islam and Muslims? And why after other groups have faced hate and discrimination in our country's past, do minority groups continue to struggle with scapegoating by the mainstream?
