It was only a matter of time before media commentators began dragging Huma Abedin's religion into the whole mess.
Now, one week after her husband's sex scandal became public, the media is abuzz with "Huma Abedin is Muslim" theories.
For starters, many are critical of Abedin's choice to stay with Weiner, after he repeatedly cheated on her through online sexting.
Others are critical of the marriage, blaming Huma for her husband's wandering...tweets.
Here's a look at some of the most creative theories on how Abedin's religion ties into her marital woes:
Anthony Weiner is unattracted to Huma Abedin because she wants to destroy America.
Fox guest Brooke Goldstein, claimed that Abedin was "connected with Islamists who want to kill us."
That, she claimed, was the reason that Anthony was unattracted to Huma.
Goldstein, a civil rights lawyer from The Lawfare Project, spoke in Thursday morning's edition of Red Eye on Fox.
She claimed that Huma was "one of the greatest national security threats in this administration."
Goldstein's other panelists, however, weren't moved, asking if "part of [Huma's] creed was to marry a Jewish perv?"
Huma Abedin is an oppressed Muslim woman who let's Anthony Weiner walk all over her.
Maureen Dowd of The New York Times has an almost-too-obvious theory on why Huma is sticking with Anthony.
"Huma was raised in Saudi Arabia, where women are treated worse by men than anywhere else on the planet," writes Dowd.
While Huma spent some of her life in Saudi Arabia, she was born in Michigan. Dowd's assumption paints Huma with the same broad brush stroke that paints all Muslims as one and the same.

Rush Limbaugh makes the same assumption. The outspoken right-wing radio host claimed that Huma was staying with Anthony because she was a powerless Muslim woman.
"It's relevant to point out here by the way ... Huma is a Muslim,” Limbaugh said, in his radio show.
“Muslim women don’t have any power, right?” he continued. “Muslim women are beheaded, stoned, whatever, if they drive, have affairs. In certain countries, Muslim women, if they’re raped, are killed -- it’s their fault."
But all Muslim women aren't the same. And Huma certainly doesn't fit the mold. Her mother holds a PhD and works a professor in Saudi Arabia.
Hardly an oppressed woman.
Then, there's Huma's long time mentor, Hillary Rodham Clinton. Again, hardly an oppressed woman.
Huma is a savvy political player. She spent years with Hillary and knows how to handle a political sex scandal and come out on top, in the poll of public perception. Indeed, her husband's scandal has made her American's sweetheart in many circles, with gushing reviews on her fashion sense and her poise.
Huma's not the only woman profiting from the whole scandal. The "other woman," a.k.a. Sydney Leathers, reportedly told MailOnline "I have a feeling [the Clintons] don't like me too much right now."
Yes, Sydney, you keep telling yourself that the Clintons actually care who you are.
