A group of angry Idaho gun enthusiasts, angry about the idea of an Islamic Cultural Center being built near Ground Zero are starting a line of pork-laced bullets. Right now you must be thinking, “Is this a joke?” Nope, it’s actually very real.
Jihawg Ammo, a line of ammunition by South Fork Industries, based in Dalton Gardens, Idaho created what they call a “defensive deterrent to those who violently act in the name of Islam.”
The bullets themselves are coated in pork-infused point, which supposedly makes them “haram”, or unclean, and because of this, will keep a Muslim killed by these from entering heaven.
The company’s press release from earlier this month states, “With Jihawg Ammo, you don’t just kill an Islamic terrorist, you also send him to hell. That should give would-be martyrs something to think about before they launch an attack. If it ever becomes necessary to defend yourself and those around you our ammo works on two levels”.
The front page of the company’s website introduces it as “the only ammunition of its kind” and in capitals states “PEACE THROUGH PORK”. There’s also a related line about being able to finally “Put some Ham in MoHAMed”, and even a target poster saying “Give Em a Spankin with some Bacon.”
“Patriots can build a wall of protection and peaceful deterrence to the growing threat of radical Isam and its culture of world dominance one brick (box) at a time,” the company’s website says.
Though company officials have made no public comments about this line of ammunition, Shannon Dunn, assistant professor of religious studies at Gonzaga University was quick to say that the company’s concept is based on an inaccurate interpretation of the Quran.
“There is no penalty for coming into contact with pork given by the Quran,” she said, only pointing to verses that prohibit consuming pork, which has even been said, is a rule that can be over looked in periods where an individual may starve to death.
Despite all this, the ammo has a large group of supporters with their Facbook page having over 5,000 likes.
