Review: Sun Dress

Sun Dress is a beautiful film set in a small village in the UAE.

It follows the story of two sisters caught in a love triangle. Although the plot is not unique, the setting and twist make for a visual delight. The film explores how Arab society and culture behave towards people with  disabilities.

In the film, one of the sisters is deaf and mute. Although they both long for a young man who sells pigeons, their competitiveness and class with the young man's father make for a film worth viewing.

The film played at the 2011 Arab Film festival. Be sure to watch it when it comes out on DVD.
