The estimates vary, but there are between two and eight million Muslim-Americans in the United States. Muslim-Americans continue to face rising hate crimes and an increase in Islamophobia.
Despite these problems, one group is starting to take note of the community's potential: Corporate America.
For a second year in row, Best Buy is advertising directly to Muslim-Americans.
And given the community's demographics, the company may be on to something.
But will cashing in on Wall Street have any kind of effect on Muslims on main street?

Finally - a good story story about Muslims just being American. And i know of the all the crap Best Buy got from this. They didn't single out muslims. Best Buy is not any more pro-islam than another religion. They honored all religious traditions during the holiday period. i like it. i have made ALL my electronic purchases from best buy, even when i know stuff is cheaper at costco and online.

Thank you ~ the reporting shares many sides and points of view within the Muslim community.
Shopping is not what defines the American culture and is unfortunately creating the illusion world wide that it is.
As s a community of vicegerents we should base our vote by HOW we spend our $1 and insha'Allah make sustainable choices for products that we do purchase instead of one based on emotion. That's just one example of how we can drive the market to be less wasteful of our precious resources.

A friend of mine shared this with me. And i am glad she did. What a wonderful story. I didn't know that the muslims are so strong demographically. It's good to know and i hope that others will come to see you all as Americans among us! On a side note, i will start to use your site as a reference. You have good stuff on here. I hope to see of this kind of high quality journalism.

i like this story for two reasons. one, i never heard these stats and muslims discussed in a positive way. second, i like how the reporter is critical of the advertising. this is what real journalism is. looking at issues from different persepctives. you could have easily made this just a pro-muslim rah-rah story. but you did not. you made your point. your countered it with the professor. just really well done.

what a great story. i had NO IDEA that muslim americans are so strong economically. its kinda like that lame show on NBC - outsourced. it's totally riduculous, for desi-americans, we'll take what we can get. so i guess for msulim -american, who seem tobe the most hated group right now, as the reporter said, we'll take - at least for now
